Hello Middle School Community –

Greenspire’s Haunted Forest – Friday, October 28th

The annual Haunted Forest is this Friday at the middle school campus.  Family Hour is from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm and Fright Time is from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm.  Both the middle school and high school, along with our PTO partners and a whole host of volunteers will be making this expanded annual event one to remember ?

Donating Apples/Bring Jugs – Cider Press

We are looking for donations of apples for some of the activities during the Haunted Forest.  We will be having a Cider Press provided by the Lackey family.  Feel free to bring jugs if you want them to be filled with fresh cider at the event.  If you have any questions, please contact Claire at claire.alexander@greenspireschool.org.

Arriving to School On-Time/Pick-Up

Please make sure students arrive to school on-time each morning.  Recently, we have seen an increase of students that are tardy each morning.  Particularly for those students with outdoor classes during that first period, it is essential they are ready to go right at 8:30 am.  If you know you will be late, please make sure you call the attendance hotline at 231.421.5905 or email office@greenspireschool.org to report any late arrivals.

Please make sure students are picked up no later than 4:00 pm each day.  There is no adult supervision on campus after that time.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – Fall 2022

The fall edition of parent-teacher conferences are Thursday, November 10th (5:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and Friday, November 11th (1:30 pm – 3:30 pm).  Our parent-teacher conferences are by appointment only.  Due to the overwhelming positive response from our student-led conferences last spring, we have increased that format for this year to include both days.  The students lead the conference and their advisor helps to facilitate it.  This year, our student led conferences will increase from 7 minutes to 15 minutes.  We will also have several activities and exhibits to view while you are here on campus.

On Monday, October 31st at 9:00 am, you will receive a link from me schedule your appointment via Sign-Up Genius.  The scheduling window will be open from Monday, October 31st at 9:00 am until Friday, November 4th at 4:00 pm.

One change from last spring is that we will not have a formal drop-in window as we did in the spring to help facilitate the longer appointments.  As always, if you need to contact an individual teacher, you can always email, call, or schedule a meeting, if necessary.  You can find the contact information for each teacher as well as a link to PowerSchool in the Toolbox section of the website under Middle School Resources.

The Huddle

Mark your calendars. The Huddle is making its return for the 2022-2023 school year.  For those of you new to the middle school, The Huddle was started two years ago when I arrived to Greenspire and it is a drop-in conversation that I host with parents/guardians.  The meetings are informal and we typically start with some announcements and then I open it to any questions that you may have.  Conversations regarding individual students or faculty/staff members do not take place during these meetings.  Each meeting will take place via Zoom and a link to each meeting will be sent in the Weekly Update prior to the meeting.  All meetings are from 9:00 am – 9:45 am.
