Student-Led Conferences Coming Soon!
Mark your calendars for November 7 (5-7:30 PM) or November 8 (12:30-3:30 PM)! Greenspire will host student-led conferences, a key part of our project-based learning approach. Students will proudly showcase their final projects, and you’ll have a chance to connect with your student’s advisory teacher. If you’d like to meet with a specific teacher who isn’t your student’s advisor, please reach out to them directly via the links in the project update section of this email. Be on the lookout for an email mid-week with sign-up information!
Snack Reminder for Greenspires Students!
We love offering snacks at Greenspires, thanks to our weekly donations from Step Up. However, our supply is limited, and our active middle schoolers—who spend a lot of time outdoors each day—often need extra fuel. If you’re able, please send snacks with your student to help keep them energized throughout the day. Your support keeps our students thriving!

English: English has been focusing on taking a stand on our thoughts on a subtopic of immigration. The work has focused on choosing a stance on what the US should be doing about the issue and making sure to use evidence to support this idea. Students should continue to try to read for at least 30 mins outside of school each day for the GRP.
Outdoor Education This week was a great one for Outdoor Education! We harvested apples from the orchard and made great observations about the differences in the harvest from last year to this year. We have theories ranging from lack of rain, hot temperatures in the autumn, and humans who harvested before we got there! We worked as a team in each pod to carefully inspect, chop up, press, and enjoy some of the freshest cider around. We also walked downtown and engaged in an art appreciation exhibit titled “Natural World” and looked at photographs from photographer Susan Kirkt, while engaging in the art appreciation process. Our sticky apple-y hands and bellies full of cider are ready for the Haunted Forest and a new month, November!
Art/PE This week, our artists made fantastic progress on their Beyond the Border projects. They’re mastering the contrast between bold black-and-white borders and colorful, detailed animals or plants inside the frame. It’s amazing to see how each student brings their unique creativity to the table.
PE was all about pushing limits and building endurance this week as we tackled the sand hill climb! The students took on the challenge with enthusiasm, working hard to make it to the top. It was a great workout that combined both strength and perseverance, and everyone encouraged each other along the way!
