As February comes to a close, we’re not only gaining more daylight but also feeling the excitement and energy of our students’ hard work! Nearly half of our student body has been dedicated to bringing Frozen Jr. to life—whether on stage as cast members or behind the scenes as crew. Their commitment, creativity, and teamwork have been inspiring to see, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience the magic they’ve been creating.

Project Updates
For more information about a specific class, please click on the class name to email the teacher directly. To access PowerSchool, please click here: Powerschool Link.
Math: Please visit the Math Website to learn more.
Social Studies: Please visit the Social Studies Website for any updates. Literature: We are starting our novel study. The book options are The Giver by Lois Lowry, The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Cinder by Marissa Meyer, and Freakling by Lana Krumwiede. Students chose their books based on their interest in the dystopian novel’s setting and characters. Please ask your student what book they are reading. Some chose to do an independent novel study while others are going to work as a group.
We are still working on getting everyone to report that they read a book for the Reading Challenge. Many students and staff have reported lots of books, while others have not reported any! Encourage your student to report books read to Claire, please!
Science: Next week, students will continue their immersive role-play in the Game On! project, evaluating whether their character’s unique adaptations—or superpowers—are enough for survival on the fictional planet Mercadia. As they dive deeper into genetics and inheritance, they’ll explore how these factors influence the survival of species.
The week will conclude with Medical Careers Day, where students will have the exciting opportunity to test their own blood type. This optional activity involves a small finger prick, with medical professionals and health science students on hand to assist. While encouraged, participation is entirely voluntary, and all students will be supported throughout the process.
Sustainable Agriculture: Hello Everyone! This week in sustainable agriculture, we worked on small projects for the Game On! Activity. Students made small model farms in small groups and made custom alien animals to serve as pets or farm hands in the game. These animals were represented in trading cards! Looking ahead to next week, we will take a look at processed foods, and what goes into them.
