The Greenspire School is closed on Friday March 13 due to inclement weather.

Dear Greenspire Community,

As we continue through the school year, the care and well-being of your children remain what matter most each day. At Greenspire, student safety is not a single program or checklist, it is a mindset woven into our daily practices, relationships, and decision-making. Our team remains attentive and proactive in supporting students socially, emotionally, and physically. When concerns arise, we follow thoughtful, research-informed protocols to ensure that situations are addressed carefully, thoroughly, and with compassion.

We are committed to early support and open communication, always centering student dignity while taking every appropriate measure to maintain a safe learning environment. Our staff regularly collaborates, consults, and reflects to make sure we are responding in ways that prioritize both care and responsibility.

Just as importantly, we continue building a culture where students feel known, heard, and valued. Strong relationships are one of the most powerful tools in prevention and support. When young people feel connected, they are more likely to reach out when they need help, and that matters deeply.

Above all, please know that caring for your children is at the center of every decision we make. We are grateful to partner with you in creating a school community where students feel safe, supported, and truly known. Thank you for being such an important part of our Greenspire family.

Hello!

I am in need of some assistance with a turntable (lazy susan) we ordered for our 3D printer. I’m looking for someone who has the tools and would be able to fashion a round, wooden platform to attach to the turntable. Please reach out if you might be able to help. kris.galoci@greenspireschool.org The dimensions are 17″ inner diameter, 18 1/4″ diameter between the two rings, and a 19 3/4″ outer diameter. Wow.  I have never had a group of students more enamored by a set of books!  Many students are finishing or close to finishing their realistic fiction novels.  We have another week or so of reading time before we get to the next step of our project.

This week we combined classes with Outdoor PE (OPE!) to run the first 3 days of The Greenspire Olympics.

We have run 3 events, the Seal Hop, Eskimo Stuck Pull, Reverse Limbo, Wrist Carry. Our students are competing with a good spirit, a great attitude, and with much knowledge and understanding of the events!

We are very much enjoying the friendly competition and trying to better our own scores!

Find assignment due dates, project updates, and vocabulary practice on our Social Studies Class Website. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.

Students have been building out a profile for each child’s needs and their jeeps are beginning to arrive. Last week students explored forces, potential, and kinetic energy and will begin applying these concepts to the jeeps they are modifying. Students will be using TinkerCAD to create models for their design ideas and teams of students will be responsible for design decisions. We are also enlisting help from mentors at NMC, CTC, and the high school as well as a local engineering firm. We will move firmly into the ideation and prototyping/modeling phases of the engineering design process next week.

Snacks Needed:

Our front desk is currently in need of high-protein snacks for students. Items such as granola bars, protein bars, trail mix, peanut butter crackers, or other individually wrapped options are especially helpful.

If you’re able to donate, we would greatly appreciate your support. These snacks make a big difference for students who need a quick boost during the day.

Thank you for your continued generosity and care for our school community!

PSAT for 8th Graders:

All 8th-grade students in the state of Michigan are required to take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test). This assessment is part of the state’s mandated testing program and provides helpful information about students’ academic progress and readiness.

While this is an important and required assessment, it is just one measure of student growth. We encourage families to help students prepare by ensuring they get a good night’s rest, eat healthy meals, and arrive at school on time and ready to do their best. A calm, positive start to the day can make a big difference.

Additional information may be sent home soon with your child that will need to be reviewed and signed. Please keep an eye out for those materials.

As always, thank you for your partnership and support!
