The Greenspire School is closed on Friday January 23 due to weather conditions.

Hello Greenspire Families,

We hope you are doing well and have enjoyed a wonderful summer so far! While summer isn’t quite over, it’s time to start getting ready for the first day of school in just a few weeks.

This is our Weekly Update—emailed each Friday. It is our main way of communicating important information, updates, and events with you throughout the school year.

The entire staff is beyond excited to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year!

Carline Information

To ensure drop-off and pick-up run smoothly and safely:
– During Open House, each family will receive a name placard for their car. Please display it on the driver’s side dashboard for quicker pick-up.

– Need more than one placard? Email office@greenspireschool.org.

– Students who will walk or bike after school must have their guardian email office@greenspireschool.org in advance.

– All walkers and bikers will be released after the carline is complete.

When everyone follows these protocols, carline usually takes less than 10 minutes—thank you for your patience in the first few weeks as we learn vehicles and routines.image.png

Supply Lists

We work to avoid waste and only ask for what students truly need. Teachers will meet Monday to finalize their lists, and you’ll receive the full list Monday afternoon.

You can plan for these essentials now:

  • Full change of clothes (including socks) – Students often get muddy or wet during outdoor learning.
  • Waterproof boots (e.g., Bogs) – For crossing streams and hiking varied terrain.
  • Indoor shoes- Shoes that are easy to slip on and off will be a great help as students will be changing their shoes everytime they go in between buildings. Indoor shoes are required on the first day of school.
  • Outdoor gear for all weather – Rain jacket and rain pants are required starting the first day.
  • Water bottle – Students will need a water bottle every day to help them on their long hikes. We have a waterbottle filling station in both buildings.
  • Lunches and snacks –
    • Lunch is eaten outdoors.
    • Pizza Wednesdays ($2/slice) and Taco Tuesdays ($4/meal) will begin later in the year—more info coming soon.
    • Other lunches must come from home; we cannot heat items. A thermos is a great investment.
    • One snack per day will be provided through a grant from the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.

Staffing Changes for the 2025-2026 School Year.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting updates to our staff lineup for the 2025–2026 school year!

Becky Morse – Assistant Principal
Please join me in congratulating Becky Morse, who will be stepping into the role of Assistant Principal. Becky has been with us for the past few years as our Administrative Assistant and we are beyond thrilled that she has accepted this role of Assistant Principal.

Emma Moulton – Administrative Assistant
Emma Moulton will be transitioning into our Administrative Assistant role and will be running our front desk. Emma has already filled in at the front desk many times in the past and has been absolutely wonderful. Emma previously served as our 504 Coordinator and Interventionist.

David Rowney – PE/Health Teacher
We are excited to welcome David Rowney as our new PE/Health teacher. David is a former Greenspire Middle School parent and comes with a wealth of outdoor experience and knowledge. We are beyond excited to have him join the team!

Ann Ronayne – Behavior Support Specialist
Lastly, we are thrilled to welcome Ann Ronayne as our Behavior Support Specialist. Ann brings an incredible background in trauma-informed, eclectic mental health counseling for adolescents aged 12–20 years, using evidence-based interventions including Animal Assisted Intervention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She will be working on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—along with her therapy dog, Greta!

We are beyond excited to have a therapy dog to help support all of our students.
We can’t wait to see everyone soon. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
