Drew Cope

Hello! My teaching and life philosophy can be summed up by my favorite quote, from Emerson, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”. I was born in Traverse City and raised in St. Ignace, where my love of history blossomed. I graduated from GVSU double majoring in Secondary Education and Social Studies and earned my Masters of Education from SNHU. I lived in Grand Rapids for nine years and Holland for five (Westside is the best side), two of which were spent teaching at an urban alternative high school. For the past seven years I have taught Social Studies online and was fortunate enough to earn many honors and truly hone my craft. I moved to Traverse City with my wife Lisa and our cat Polly in the Fall of 2022, marking a full-circle journey for me. I love reading, playing sports, gardening and generally being outdoors. Any given weekend I am camping, hiking, and/or kayaking. This is my tenth teaching and my first year at Greenspire and I am so excited to be inspired by students and hopefully inspire them!
