Thousands of companies and educational institutions nationwide are invited to open their doors to students, parents, educators, and community leaders. Greenspire students will tour Cone Drive and Cultured Kombucha. We are thankful to these companies for letting our students learn more about manufacturing opportunities located in Northern Michigan. Students will be transported using Dean Transportation. **Please note that student drop off and pick up times will continue as usual. They will participate in normal classroom activities before and after this field trip.** If you do not want your student to participate, please email becky.morse@greenspireschool.org by Thursday at 4. Vision Screening: 7th Grade OnlyThe Grand Traverse Health Department will be completing vision screenings for 7th graders on October 2. Math: Please visit the Math Website to learn more.

English: we are starting to take on the tough task of informing ourselves about some of the things impacting our community. The topic that we are going to be reading, writing and talking about is immigration. By the end of the month of October, students should have a good base of information to support their stance on the topic.
Please make sure students are participating in the GRP and are trying to read 30 mins each day.

Social Studies: please visit the Social Studies Website to learn more.

Art and PE: This week in Art class we finished up our name tag designs! These grades should be going in the next week! We drew some symbols and imagery to describe ourselves without words and started an introduction to Canva! Next week will start our first digital Art assignment!

This week in PE class we brushed up on our frisbee throwing skills by practicing with a partner in the field! We also went on a hike and played a few games of capture the flag!

Outdoor Education: This week we were able to investigate another muddy area of the Commons and we also engaged in our first sit spot of the year. All students have their first sit spot at Baple Mountain. We practiced looking for an appropriate spot using what we knew about the Commons, the trees, and the hillside. We enjoyed our sit spots and returned with stories and anecdotes from across the forest. We continued to learn about foraged species, and are comfortable with the tart snacks of autumn olive and staghorn sumac.
