We find ourselves in the heart of our final projects for the year. Our Project-Based Learning website continues to be updated throughout our project. We urge everyone to explore it to help enrich discussions with your students. If you ever have questions about the projects or deadlines, please reach out to individual teachers and they would be happy to help with that information. We would also like to encourage everyone to check powerschool. With only 5 weeks of school left, it is important that students are not falling behind and that all work is completed on time.

Dress Code Reminder:

As the temperatures rise and the rain continues, we want to take a moment to remind everyone of our school dress code and that a change of clothes as well as appropriate gear for the weather is mandatory.

“Students must wear tops, bottoms (or the equivalent, e.g. dresses), and sandals, shoes, or boots at all times. Undergarments and bathing suits are not considered a top or a bottom. Certain body parts must be covered in all circumstances for all students, at all times: genitals, breasts, chests, nipples, or buttocks may not be visible at any time.

Students will be outside in all weather conditions for extended periods of time. Students must wear weather-appropriate clothing for the entire time outdoors. As such, proper dress is mandatory to remain comfortable in the varied climates we experience in northern Michigan. Rain gear, water/snow resistant footwear, and extremely warm clothes such as snowsuits, are recommended. Failure to dress according to the weather may often result in a call home to get appropriate clothing. Continual failure to wear adequate clothing will result in disciplinary action following our tiered system.”

Let it Glow- Student Semi-Formal Dance

The 8th Grade fundraising committee invites you to join us on May 24, 2024, from 5:30-7:30 PM to participate in the Let it Glow spring dance. It will be semi-formal, with music and dancing in the Maple building. In Spruce there will be video games, movies, and a bake sale/snacks. The theme will be a mashup of glow-in-the-dark and The Lorax! We will provide glow-in-the-dark items for attendees to use. In the pool, there will be a cakewalk that you can visit and try out different cakes! It will be a $5 entry, and items from the bake sale will be extra. There will be a photo wall where you can get a Polaroid picture taken for $1 and we will also take school-appropriate song requests for $1. We are looking for donations of glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark paint. Remember to save the 24th of May for the Let it Glow spring dance. If you have any questions, please contact Abby, Abigail, Aniya, Josie, or Maya.
