Science Teacher

There are few things better in the realm of education than an inspired mind observing and connecting to the world in new and imaginative ways. It has been an honor to devote time and efforts to helping students find inspiration, acquire and foster a deep spirit for exploration and discovery, and become enabled with the tools to make experienced and competent hypotheses about the world in which they live. My integration into the Greenspire family is an obvious and warranted career evolution that provides exceptional opportunities to encourage these traits.

The desire to teach was apparent early in my life. I taught martial arts while a student in high school and during my service in the Army, where my role as an educator varied including providing training in warfighter, navigation, survival, and mountain climbing. In time, I began teaching classes in mathematics and specialized courses for returning and at-risk student populations at NMC. My passion for the subject matters and stewardship of students eventually earned me a spot in a joint Outstanding Educator award from the TC Chamber of Commerce, and the student-driven NMC’s Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award. An extended hiatus taken to work as an operational analyst for the Navy led to more time as an educator of military and civilian personnel, a graduate degree in physics, and the opportunity to work with a multitude of schools as a volunteer, speaker, proctor, and academic judge.

As a scientist, mathematician, and business owner, my interests vary, and although my passion for science and teaching runs deep, little compares to time well spent with my family as we enjoy our community, in rain, sunshine, or blankets of snow.
