SOCIAL STUDIES AND LANGUAGE ARTS TEACHER

During a dinner conversation in 2015, my first year of teaching, my roommate handed me the book, “A Room for Learning” by Tal Birdsey. As I read through this book, the gears started turning and I was inspired by the idea of being part of a new school concept. The book discusses the growing pains of creating a new school, as well as one that is immersed and guided by our natural world. Now entering my 9th year of teaching, and 1st with Greenspire High School, I am excited and honored to be joining the GHS community on a similar mission: to inspire and motivate students, to stoke the flames of curiosity for our natural world, and to cultivate a love and lifetime of learning through environmentally focused project-based learning.

A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan I earned my B.A. in Social Science Education from Michigan State University in 2014, and a teaching certificate in 2015. From there, I spent a couple of years teaching in Colorado and the next six in Grand Rapids. Looking forward to building and growing with the Greenspire Community!
