Hello Greenspire Community –

We are excited to see students back in-person beginning next Tuesday, January 26th.  We are putting the finishing touches on both the in-person and remote schedules.  Additionally, we have purchased some additional safety equipment to help protect the health of our faculty/staff and students while in the building.

In-Person Students

From Tuesday, January 26th through Friday, March 5th, we will be in the second phase of the Return to In-Person Learning Plan.  This phase has students attending school with a four-day week model.  Students will attend school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  Students will still have the same amount of contact hours in their classes as a regular five day schedule and in some cases, additional time.  On Wednesdays, students will have the opportunity to participate in some special events and remote electives in the afternoon that will begin on Wednesday, February 10th.  More information will be provided to students and their families over the next couple of weeks.

Remote Students

Both students and parents/guardians will receive an email from me with the new remote schedule toward the end of this week.  This schedule will begin on Tuesday, January 26th.  Remote students will also have the ability to participate in remote electives on Wednesday afternoons with the in-person students beginning Wednesday, February 10th.

Emergency Remote Schedule

As many of you know, K-12 school personnel will begin to receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine over the next few weeks.  The health department is doing their best to minimize disruptions to schools, however there almost certainly will be times over the next several weeks in which school will either have to shift to remote learning for all students for a short period of time.  This will be more likely when the second dose of the vaccine is provided to school personnel as some people experience side effects.  The Emergency Remote schedule will serve in-person students during that time.  Fully remote students will keep their same schedule and will not need to utilize the Emergency Remote schedule.

The Emergency Remote Schedule will be posted to the Toolbox section of the website for parents and students to access anytime and students will be shown how to access remote courses when they return to school next week.  I will also share it in a communication over the next few days.  This schedule may also need to be used if school is closed due to a positive case or probable case as well as for any staffing shortages.  We will do our best to minimize any disruptions, but this vaccination process will affect all schools, not just Greenspire over the next several weeks.

Greenspire 101 Webinar Series – Project-Based Learning

Thursday, January 21st

6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

This is a new program for our Greenspire community.  We plan to host quarterly webinars on a variety of topics for parents/guardians and sometimes, both parents/guardians and students.

The first webinar is focused on Project-Based Learning.  You can join us from the comfort of your own home as the faculty and staff showcase highlights from our first semester and present some of the learning experiences that we have planned for students during the second semester.  You will also learn more about our project-based learning environment and how we accomplish the state standards in a more dynamic and innovative way.
