October is National Bullying Prevention Month. During advisories, council, and classes, students will be participating in a number of different activities to promote kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. To learn more, you can watch this introduction video: National Bullying Prevention Month. As always, please encourage your students to tell us immediately if they witness any unkind behavior. The sooner we know, the better we can address the situation. Last Friday, we addressed what being an “Upstander” was and we have already seen examples of people stepping up in our community to make Greenspire a better place.

Important Upcoming Dates:

  • Picture Day: Wednesday, October 11
  • Half Day: Friday, October 13-  Students are dismissed at 11:30
  • Haunted Forest: Friday, October 27 from 4-7

Fall: Fall has finally come to Northern Michigan. While we are excited for cooler days, it is that time of year when students will need to make sure they are dressing appropriately for the weather. Students need a change of clothes including socks as well as a change of shoes each day at Greenspire. Gloves and hats are also encouraged as the temperatures continue to drop over the next few weeks.

Snacks: Please make sure your students are bringing snacks with them as well as their lunch each day. Part of what makes Greenspire great is the amount of time students are active, however, this may also make them need extra snacks.

Haunted Forest Information: Friday, October 27

Every year, students put on the “Haunted Forest”. This year’s theme is Carnival. The “Haunted Forest” is a large community event including a haunted trail, silent auction, food, and games. For more information please check our Haunted Forest website. All of these events are organized and led by students. All proceeds benefit The Greenspire School. As the event gets closer, ticket sales and silent auction items will go live. Haunted Forest Site
