Field Trip Eligibility & Academic Support During Lunch

As we near the end of the school year, students must be passing all of their classes in order to participate in the upcoming end-of-year field trips. We have three back-to-back fun days planned in June. These events are a celebration of students’ hard work and progress, and we want as many students as possible to be able to attend.

If your student currently has an F in any class, they will be asked to stay in during lunch next week to work on missing or incomplete assignments and improve their grade. These lunch work sessions will be held every day next week and are intended to provide extra support so students can finish the year successfully.

If you would prefer that your student not be asked to stay in during lunch to work, please email me before Monday’s lunch to let me know.

Thank you for your support in helping all students finish the year strong. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. To check your students current grades, please click here: Powerschool Link

 8th Grade Baby Photos Needed

Each year, our 8th graders contribute one baby photo for a special slideshow celebrating their growth and time at our school. The slideshow is shared with the school community as part of our end-of-year traditions.

If you have an 8th grader, please email one baby photo to Claire @ Claire.Alexander@greenspireschool.org by June 3. Thank you for helping us continue this meaningful tradition!

Math: Please visit the Math Website to learn more.

Social Studies: This Friday, our 8th grade students will wrap up their World Religions and Classical Empires project by teaching the lessons they’ve developed to 6th and 7th grade students. The following Friday, our 6th and 7th graders will share the Alphabet Books they created as part of this project with elementary students.
We’re excited to see our middle schoolers take on leadership roles and share their learning by mentoring younger students!
English: Students are completely immersed in the Creation Station and are working hard on their nonfiction children’s books. We are going to be walking to different schools around the area on May 30 to read these books to younger students, so we have a very firm due date for these books.

Please return your library books!!.jpg

Art: This week, students started illustrating the books they wrote in English class. It’s bittersweet as this is our last week with a dedicated art class! Students have made fantastic progress this year and really tapped into their creative side.

PE/Health: Looking ahead to next week, we will begin our Sexual Education unit. Please note that student schedules will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this important curriculum!
Science:Next week we will wrap up investigating the properties of water in the context of ocean systems. Students will expand their focus from coral reefs to the full reef ecosystem and other sea life at risk of decline from climate change impacts. Students will begin creating their final product, working on ocean conservation messaging that presents the science of climate change in a manner that compels their audience to specific action.
