Community Connections
Pride in our Community
The Greenspire School prides itself on connecting students with people in our community to learn side by side. These individuals help students by critiquing their work and developing new ideas for existing problems. Guests have included architects, lawyers, midwives, hospice workers and many more. Our students benefit from the wealth of experience and knowledge in our region through direct interactions at school or in professional settings.
Community Footprints
In addition, students engage in “Community Footprints” in which they choose one service project. These service learning projects have been with organizations including:
- The Traverse City Senior Center
- TC Community Garden
- Northwestern Michigan College
- Botanical Garden at Historic Barns Park
- Traverse City Cooperative Preschool
- Safe Harbor of Grand Traverse
- Traverse City Community Meals
- Grand Traverse Pavilions
We are grateful for our many community partners and their willingness to work with us throughout the school year. We know that these connections help build the skills necessary for our students to achieve their goals beyond the middle school years.
